Julie Kang, OD

Dr. Julie Kang is a comprehensive optometrist whose clinical focus involves the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ocular disease. She cares for patients at the Perlman Retina Clinic where she detects and manages diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, and the ocular effects of systemic medications. She is also part of the Urgent Eye Care Clinic where she evaluates and treats acute eye conditions such as flashes and floaters, sudden vision loss, eye pain, double vision, infections, and ocular injuries.

Dr. Kang earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Clemson University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. She completed a residency in ocular disease at the Lexington VA Medical Center where she received advanced training in ocular disease and treated conditions like diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. Dr. Kang then served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Pikeville, Kentucky College of Optometry teaching optometry students basic clinical skill techniques and precepting students as they entered their final year of clinical rotations.

Dr. Kang is committed to providing patient-centered care and is passionate about serving the greater San Diego community.
