Peter Shaw

Peter Shaw, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor specializing in Retina. Dr. Shaw became a fellow at the University of California, San Francisco after graduated from Sichuan University/West China Medical College. After receiving his Ph.D. degree at McMaster University, he completed his post-doctoral training at University of California, San Diego.

Dr. Shaw has published more than 70 articles on high impacted scientific journals. His research interests focus on the impact of genetics, innate immunity and oxidative stress on pathogenesis of eye diseases including age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and inherited retinal degenerations. His research also aims to identify biomarkers for pre-symptomatic diagnosis of these diseases and develop a gene therapy approach to deliver engineered antibodies that target the functional molecules modulating disease progression.

Dr. Shaw is also a member of Clinical and Translation Research Institute and School of Medicine Recruitment and Admission Committee.
