Caitlin Jomoc

Dr. Caitlin Jomoc is an optometrist who specializes in pediatrics, strabismus, amblyopia, and myopia control. She provides comprehensive eye care for pediatric patients at the Ratner Children's Eye Center, including infant eye exams, binocular vision evaluations, and contact lens fittings. As part of the Myopia Control Clinic, she treats children to slow the progression of nearsightedness. She also sees adult patients at the Shiley Eye Institute for comprehensive eye exams. Additionally, Dr. Jomoc is part of the Urgent Eye Care Clinic where she triages and cares for patients with emergent eye-related issues such as flashes and floaters, sudden loss of vision, and eye pain. She strives to provide compassionate, comprehensive eye care and patient education using evidence-based treatments to address any visual barriers to activities of daily life, such as learning in the classroom.

Dr. Jomoc earned her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and a minor degree in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry, where she completed a Research Fellowship in optics and low vision and graduated with Clinical Honors. Dr. Jomoc then completed residency in Pediatric Optometry and Vision Therapy at the Southern California College of Optometry. During her residency, she received advanced training in pediatric eye care and management of binocular vision issues. She also received specialized training working with brain injury, pediatric low vision, and special needs populations. She served as an attending doctor in clinic and as a co-instructor in lecture and lab courses for optometry students. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

As a UCSD undergraduate, Dr. Jomoc was part of the clinical research team at the Jacobs Retina Center, investigating the latest advances in diagnostic equipment and therapies for people who suffer from retinal diseases, such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.
